Wolf Township is located in Lycoming County, Pennsylvania, east of the City of Williamsport, PA. The township surrounds the borough of Hughesville, and is bisected by US Route 220 and PA Route 405.
Wolf Township was formed from part of Muncy Township by the Pennsylvania General Assembly in September of 1834. The township is named for George Wolf who was the governor of Pennsylvania from 1829 to 1835. The boroughs of Hughesville and Picture Rocks are on land that was taken from Wolf Township.
Based on figures from 1950 - 2000, the average growth rate per decade is 25%, the highest anticipated growth in the Muncy Creek Planning Area.
